If I had to choose one resource to help with the high school homeschool journey, this set would be it. I was SO scared about doing something wrong, and these DVDs and the book helped me to feel excited and optimistic rather than terrified. The DVDs contain all kinds of practical information for meeting graduation requirements and making sure that coursework will satisfy college admissions guidelines. The Sample Comprehensive Record, in particular, was incredibly helpful for organizing our son's high school coursework. When we made the decision to transition him to public school for his junior year, we used the templates in this book to make up transcripts, course descriptions, and to outline all of his learning experiences and books read. We had no trouble with the district accepting the schoolwork that had been done.

Lee Binz, "The Home Scholar" and author of these materials also provides phone counseling for a fee. I paid for one hour with her, and it was some of the best homeschooling money I ever spent. She helped us custom-design a stop-motion/claymation art course for our son who was hugely obsessed with this area for some time. (His texts from that course are available in another listing, if you're interested.) It was great to have someone answer all of my questions and to help me feel on top of things where his high school future was concerned. That son is now attending college on a full tuition scholarship.
