When my oldest son started high school, he was obsessed with claymation and stop-motion animation. With the help of Lee Binz (The Home Scholar), we created a custom art curriculum for him using these books (and many online resources). Maybe your child might be interested in something other than the standard art appreciation or painting/drawing classes? ;o)

Home Learning Year by Year - Rupp

When I first started homeschooling, this was one of my very favorite books. I knew what I wanted my kids to learn (and they had a pretty good handle on their learning wants, too!) but I didn't really know the best order to tackle those skills and subjects. Particularly if you live in a state whose homeschooling laws require you to demonstrate you're meeting certain standards and covering the required subjects, this book is indispensable. If you're lucky enough to live in a state like ours where your homeschooling choices are essentially up to you, this is still a handy curriculum-creating guide to have on hand.

Homeschooling High School - Dennis
Available for a minimum donation of $9 (includes shipping)

This is another fantastic book! Nothing struck fear into my heart as much as the thought of getting my kids through high school. Although they are in public school now, my oldest son's first two high school years were at home, and he transitioned easily into the public school setting. Despite my fears, he was well prepared with Sonlight under his belt. He was nearly a straight-A student throughout his junior and senior years, and is attending college now with a full tuition scholarship.

This book helps you plan out your child's coursework with an eye toward college requirements. There are blank worksheets to complete, information about how to track and figure grades, and handy timelines with important dates (tests, financial aid applications, etc.) There are also instructions for how to prepare a transcript, and how to write up curriculum and course descriptions.

This book is in excellent condition except that the spine is a bit bent.

This book is in good condition. Many homeschoolers follow the TJE philosophy, and if you don't know what it is, this is a good way to find out! :o)

Is American education preparing the future leaders our nation needs, or merely struggling to teach basic literacy and job skills? Without leadership education, are we settling for an inadequate system that delivers educational, industrial, governmental and societal mediocrity? In A Thomas Jefferson Education: Teaching a Generation of Leaders for the Twenty-first Century, Oliver DeMille presents a new educational vision based on proven methods that really work! Teachers, students, parents, educators, legislators, leaders and everyone who cares about America's future must read this compelling book.

This book is in very good condition.

Now you can realize the joy filled homeschool of your dreams! This modern classic is written by the homeschool mom who first carried Charlotte Mason's writings to America in her suitcase in 1987. Miss Mason's books were soon republished for a new generation. After ten years of intense study and successful application of Miss Mason s principles with her own children, Karen wrote A Charlotte Mason Companion: Personal Reflections on the Gentle Art of Learning. Today's parents can now see what a Charlotte Mason education looks like in a contemporary setting while gleaning from its many benefits. Charlotte Mason's principles of education are not only a way of learning but also a way of life. A Charlotte Mason Companion gives you powerful tools to create an extraordinary learning experience. At the turn of every page, you will meet a practical idea and the inspiration to carry it out. Topics on using good books, heroes in history, poetry, art and music appreciation, nature study, the atmosphere of home, the discipline of habit, keeping up enthusiasm, (to name a few) are referred to again and again by Karen s readers. It is one of the most trusted and often quoted books in the home school world since 1998. Plenty of encouragement, wisdom and gentle instruction await you in this beautifully written and beautifully illustrated book. You will not want to loan this one out!

Oh, how I hate to part with this! This manual targeted my love of homeschooling and my love/need/obsession with organization simultaneously! If you're familiar with MOTH, you might appreciate knowing that I had TWO poster-sized MOTH schedules on my walls during our homeschooling years. If you're not familiar with the system, take a quick look around the website and you'll soon discover that there's no reason to feel overwhelmed by homeschooling household responsibilities, nor your children's after-school activities. You can fit them all in and have room to spare (and remember, I'm speaking as a mom of 12!)

This book is in very good condition and contains many unused goal and schedule planning sheets in the back pocket. It also contains the registration card.

SOLD Preparing to Homeschool High School DVD/Comprehensive Record (Home Scholar)

SOLD

Please read this first - Contains information on how to purchase and how this fundraiser works.

Preparing to Homeschool High School DVD/Comprehensive Record (Home Scholar)
Available for a minimum donation of $75 (includes shipping)

This set consists of the following items:
  • Preparing to Homeschool High School DVD set
  • Sample Comprehensive Record book
If I had to choose one resource to help with the high school homeschool journey, this set would be it. I was SO scared about doing something wrong, and these DVDs and the book helped me to feel excited and optimistic rather than terrified. The DVDs contain all kinds of practical information for meeting graduation requirements and making sure that coursework will satisfy college admissions guidelines. The Sample Comprehensive Record, in particular, was incredibly helpful for organizing our son's high school coursework. When we made the decision to transition him to public school for his junior year, we used the templates in this book to make up transcripts, course descriptions, and to outline all of his learning experiences and books read. We had no trouble with the district accepting the schoolwork that had been done.

Lee Binz, "The Home Scholar" and author of these materials also provides phone counseling for a fee. I paid for one hour with her, and it was some of the best homeschooling money I ever spent. She helped us custom-design a stop-motion/claymation art course for our son who was hugely obsessed with this area for some time. (His texts from that course are available in another listing, if you're interested.) It was great to have someone answer all of my questions and to help me feel on top of things where his high school future was concerned. That son is now attending college on a full tuition scholarship.

If you want more info about Lee Binz, you can visit her site. It reads a little like a web version of an infomercial, but as I said, I felt these materials were WELL worth the money.

I have many other high school-specific resources available in my other listings.
